| [05 May 08] :: 20th Anniverary Stuc a Chroin race |
Over 120 hill runners took part in the 20th anniversary Stuc a Chroin hill race on Saturday. 4 Hawks started the race but Joe Symonds had to pull out with hamstring problems. Mike Galloway, Alastair Main and Charlie Love all finished. All finishers received a memento of the occasion and Charlie was presented with a fine bottle of Malt for competing in his 19th race. Scottish Athletics (SAF) have asked us to remind you that amateur athletes are able to compete in highland games and border games without losing their amateur status. SAF works closely with the Scottish Games Association (SGA) and include their fixtures in their lists of events. The rules were changed some 20 years ago to allow amateur athletes to compete in SGA events and SGA athletes to compete in SAF amateur events. |
| [29 Apr 08] :: National Junior League, Match 1 - Leeds 27/4/08 |
14 Hawks under 17/20 athletes represented Kingdom Athletic in the Northern Premier Division match held at South Leeds Stadium.
The team finished 5th out of the 8 clubs and ahead of Trafford, Gateshead and City of York. Great early season form was shown by many of the athletes, highlighted by 3 club records being equalled or bettered. These were - Eilish McColgan U20 800m 2:13.1; Sarah Kelly U17 1500m 4:35.5 and Chris Lavery U20 200m 22.0.
For a number of athletes this was their first taste of competition at this level and was a positive experience to build on. There were a [...continue] |
| [15 Apr 08] :: Fundraising successes |
| After the success of the bag packinging event at Morrisons Supermarket a couple of weekends ago, where £401 was raised, many Hawks, family and friends enjoyed an evenings pub quiz in the Fort Bar last night. It was great to see both the young and not-so-young enjoying pitting their wits against the formidable questions set by John Brown of the Evening Telegraph. Eddie Holmes' team nearly won coming a close second. £645 was raised overall whcih means we have raised over £1000 in the last couple opf weeks.
